Founding Partners
Gerry Martiniuk, M.P.P. – Cambridge
In 1997, the Ontario Ministry of Health approved Cambridge as an under-serviced area - the first in southern Ontario. It was the dedicated work of Gerry and the other Founding Partners that put Cambridge on the map in terms of the doctor shortage.
City of Cambridge
The City of Cambridge has gone well beyond its mandate to provide continued support to the doctor recruitment efforts. The City of Cambridge provides a generous annual grant to the committee which allows us to hire a part-time recruitment coordinator, market the community through advertisements and recruitment fairs, and accommodate the 30 - 50 annual visits of touring doctors. Cambridge also had the vision to provide the recruitment committee with a one-time grant of $250,000 to start its own not-for-profit medical clinic. Cambridge Health Link, 350 Conestoga Blvd. is the direct result of this grant.
Cambridge Memorial Hospital
Our success would not be complete without the partnership with Cambridge Memorial Hospital. The hospital provides annual grants and assists the committee when a doctor is touring Cambridge. Staff at the hospital have been involved in many of our recruitment activities.
Cambridge Chamber of Commerce
The Cambridge Chamber of Commerce is one of the Founding Partners of the recruitment efforts. The Chamber also provides in-kind support for the committee through meeting room space, financial management, and general office assistance.
Langs Farm Village Association
Langs Farm Village Association has been actively involved with doctor recruitment as one of the Founding Partners. Langs Farm also has assisted the committee in many regards over the past year and provides an annual grant to the committee. LFVA is also the home of the Langs Farm Community Health Centre.
